"I Have a Pet"

Friday 17th October, 2014

Hello! How are you?
What did we do in class yesterday?

César told us what he and the dragon did together.
César said: “The dragon and I eat hamburgers. We do homework together. We watch TV. And he sleeps with me. We enjoyed together. He is happy.”

Then, we sat in a circle and discovered things about our dragon’s life.
I made questions & you answered.

·         Where does he live?   He lives in Learn & Enjoy.
·         How old is he?             He’s one year old.
·         What colour is he?      He’s orange with black wings.
·         Does he have a mum and a dad?    Yes, he does.
·         How many brothers and sisters does he have?
·         He has five brothers and three sisters. (A very big family!)
·         What does he eat?    He eats hamburgers.
·         What does he like?    He likes playing football.
·         What can he do?       He can fly.
·         What does he do when he is angryHe throws fire through his mouth!

Then, we coloured pets!
We worked in pairs. We coloured the first group of pets and later we asked our partner: “What colour is the dog, the fish, the horse etc.? And we used the colour they told us.

We reviewed adjectives: short / long  clean/ dirty  big/ small

We played ‘Bingo’ with plural and singular nouns.
Two horses. Two fish. Three birds. Two mice.

We listened to the song: “I have a pet”
You can listen to it again here.

Don’t forget your homework:
Write four sentences (four lines) using animals and adjectives. For example:
The dog is dirty. The cats are clean. The two fish are small. Etc.

This week our dragon is living with David. David, look after him and tell us what you did together, OK?

Pets & Our Pet, the Dragon!!!

Friday 10th October, 2014

Hi boys and girls! How are you?

Last Friday we finished talking about weather.

We revised the things we can do in summer, when it’s hot. In winter, when it’s cold. In spring, when it’s sunny and windy. And in autumn, when it’s rainy.

We started talking about pets.

In the picture,
·         There are two cats.
·         There are three dogs.
·         There are six fish.
·         There is a bird.

There is ----- only one. There are ----more than one.

We reviewed prepositions.

·         Where are the cats? They’re on the wall.
·         Where’s the bird? It’s in the cage.
·         Where are the rabbits? They’re under the table.
·         Where are the dogs? They’re behind the flowers.

And we asked and answered questions:

·         Is the bird in the tank? No, it isn’t.
·         Are the cats behind the flowers? No, they aren’t.
·         Are the rabbits under the table? Yes, they are.

We listened to people telling where the pets are.

And guess what! We have a pet!
Is it a dog? Is it a cat? Is it a goldfish? NO! It’s a dragon!!! A beautiful orange dragon with wings! He can fly!
You suggested names and we voted. The name with the most votes was “Little Flame” (because it’s orange like flames).

This week, César took our pet to his house. Let’s see what he did with it and if the dragon enjoyed his stay at César’s home!!!

Months, Seasons & The Weather

Friday 3rd October, 2014

Hello again!

What’s the weather like today? It’s sunny and warm.

In class, we continued talking about the weather. We had our weathermen and weatherwomen (the people who tell the weather), who told us about the weather. The same as on TV!

After this, you came in front of the class, you were the teachers!, and asked questions about your pictures.

  •       What’s the weather like?     It’s sunny.
  •          What’s the weather like? It’s windy.
  •         What’s the weather like? It’s snowy.
  •          What’s the weather like? It’s rainy.

We looked for weather words in a word search. We had to find seasons and weather, but there was a word which was not a season or related to weather. Do you remember? Yes, it was “swim”.
What does “swim” mean?                                                                                                     Yes, it’s a sport!

Then, we talked and wrote about seasons.
·         What’s the weather like in spring? It’s rainy and wet.
·         What can we do in winter? We can make a snowman
·         What’s the weather like in summer? It’s hot and  sunny.
·         What can we do in autumn? We can fly kites.

For homework, write sentences like those.
What can you do in …?
What’s the weather like in …?

We sang two songs about the weather.
We played a game with the months of the year.
First forwards: January, February, March… Then, backwards: December, November, October …
Months of the year - Song
