A Visit to our Friends' New House!

Friday 27th February, 2015

Hello kids! How are you?
Yesterday, we started the class with Raúl telling us what he and Little Flame did together last week.

After that, I listened to your presentations about the rooms in your house that you described.



We reviewed the vocabulary about objects and furniture in the house.

We role-played a dialogue.
The Wilsons family go to visit the Green’s new house. The Greens and the Wilsons are friends.
The Greens live in a big house near the town. It isn’t so near as the old house.
The new house has nine rooms: a hall, a dining –room, a living-room, a kitchen, two bathrooms and three bedrooms: one for Mr. and Mrs. Green, one for Jane and one for Philip.
In the Green’s new house, the living- room is as big as the dining-room. (The same. The dining –room is 40m2 and the living-room is 20m2)
Philip likes Tom’s room because it’s as funny as a zoo. Why? Because a monkey lives there!
Apart from the house, we talked about the families.

Working on a Project

Friday 20th February,

Hi everyone!
What did we do last Friday?

First, Luis told us about Little Flame’s first Carnival.


Little Flame went to Móstoles with Luis. Luis wore costumes. His fancy dress was a bulb! Little Flame wore a mask! They saw the parade and enjoyed a lot!


We continued speaking about houses and where people live.
·         Mónica lives in a house in a town.
·         María lives in a cottage in the country.
·         Michael lives in a flat in the city. He lives on the second floor.
Where do you live?
I live in a cottage in the country.
What floor do you live on?
I live on the first floor.
How many rooms are there in your house?
There are two rooms downstairs and three rooms upstairs?
Is there a garden?
Yes, there is.
How many bedrooms are there?
There are two bedrooms.
Are there two bathrooms?
No, there aren’t. There’s only one bathroom.
For homework, you have to describe a room in your house: your bedroom, the living room, the bathroom or…the garden!
Then, we recorded the ‘making off ’(how to make) of our end of term project.
On the first stage, Feel’, we wrote your ideas on post-it cards and stuck them with cello tape on a piece of cardboard. Then we made groups with them and created clouds of information.
After that, we voted for an idea. We voted for Ángela’s idea. She doesn’t like the empty space between the wall and the ceiling in the girls’ toilet. It is ugly! And…we moved to the following phase (stage), ‘Imagine’. So, we decided to decorate it and make it nicer = more beautiful.You imagined different ways of decorating that empty space.
So, we started the third stage: ‘Do’. We went to the secretary. We said, “We need a long piece of white paper.” Before that, we measured how much paper we need with a metre. It’s 1.61 cm.
If they have our piece of paper, we can start decorating tomorrow!

Saint Valentine's & Carnival - Flipped Class

Friday 13th February

Hi everybody! How are you?
Last Friday we finally saw Eva. She was ill but now she is fine.

First, Ángela told us about Little Flame.
·         Where is Little Flame?
·         Little Flame and Ángela are in the garden.
·         Little Flame is in the garage.
·         Little Flame is in the bathroom.
·         Little Flame is in the garden.
·         Is Little Flame in the bedroom? Yes, he is.

We started correcting homework. That was the objects in the room.
·         There is an armchair.
·         There’s a carpet.
·         There’s a lamp.
·         There’s a computer.
·         There’s a fan.
·         There are curtains.

After that, we redecorated the house.
I want the carpet in the middle of the room. The table has to be next to the armchair. The desk goes between the window and the table. The lamp is on the ceiling.

Then, we told Eva about our project and watched a video.
We wrote the things we don’t like and that we want to change.

And finally, we had ‘Flipped Class’. Our ‘teachers’ showed us how to make Carnival masks. The masks are very nice. And we have a word search about Saint Valentine’s Day. That is your homework this week.

Where do you Live?

Friday 6th February, 2015

Hello everybody! How are you?
 Eva, are you fine? We haven’t seen you in two weeks! Do you have a cold?

First, Lucía told us about Little Flame’s routines.  The things he always does; the things that he sometimes does and other things that he never does.
This week, Little Flame is with Ángela. Ángela, remember that you have to write five sentences with rooms of the house. For example: Little Flame is in the kitchen. He is next to the fridge. You can draw a picture or take a photo.

Secondly, we wrote about the family’s routines.
·         My father always goes shopping on Saturdays.
·         My cousin sometimes plays football in the park.
·         My aunt usually goes to the cinema.
·         My brother never cleans his room.
Later, we talked about houses. Do you remember the rooms in the house?


We learn some new words like:  Armchair      Carpet    Curtains    Fan

We brainstormed ideas about things we don’t like or that we liked to change. This is the first stage of our project: Feel! Next day, we’ll write them on post -its.
Next Friday we are having a ‘Flipped Class’, same as we did on Halloween. This time the theme is going to be ‘Saint Valentine’s Day’ and also ‘Carnival’.
